Trying to break the cranky

When: Sunday afternoon.
Where: local park and rose garden
Who: K, Adison, Ainsley, Abigail and yours truly
Why: Super cranky, feisty kids needed a break in atmosphere and physical exercise

Every once in a while a bad mood, cabin fever mood runs through our house.
It appears to be contagious.
When such an event occurs the usual prescription is a change in scenery.

Every Autumn and Spring I get a bit twitchy.
I know that our frolics in the sun and the cool wind on our faces will come to an end.

Why you ask?
Because we have the pure joy of experiencing the extremes of the desert and the tundra.
{Note: some sarcasm and over-exaggeration being used}

The reality though is that we have some pretty wicked Summers and Winters.
It's just a fact of living in the Midwest.
It comes with the territory.
We have very few weeks of mild, outdoorsy weather and when they show up we try to embrace it.

Sunday afternoon.
Beautiful day outside, a storm inside.

K and I knew what had to be done.
Get outside IMMEDIATELY.
This need was so necessary that we even had Abby skip her nap.
Skipping a nap for a two-year old is some pretty serious business.

It was a blast.
The kids ran around, playing hide-and-go-seek in the rose garden.
Balance beamed around the koi pond.
Ainsley even managed to score some bread off of a nice couple there to feed the ducks and some fish.
{She even shared some with Abby, Adison was too busy running around.}

Then we got home, ate some food and shuffled the children off to bed.
Sigh.
It was a good day.

Cupcake Happy Vol. 3

Yesterday afternoon I took Adison to get new soccer cleats and get Ainsley's new ballet attire.
Cleats- check
Leotard- check
Tight- check
Ballet slippers- check

It was such a neat moment to watch Ainsley pick out her ballet things.
I took ballet when I was younger and always loved it.
Seeing all of the pink, black and white brought back so many fond memories.

After we got home Abby declared that she wanted some ballet slippers as well.
I had found them for such an amazing deal that K and I decided to get her some as well even though she isn't old enough yet to do ballet.
I told her that we would go in the morning after baby B got to our house.

 Fast forward to this morning.
Both big girls are at school.
Baby B has arrived.

I got B buckled into the car when I smell the unmistakeable smell of dirty diaper.
I decided that rather than get B back out of the car and head back into the house that I would just change her in the van.
Ah, the glory of having a van, such an easy place to change a diaper.
I get the diapers and wipes out, lay Abby down and get to changin' the stink.
Abby found my keys, I had forgotten to put them on the front seat like I always do.
Abby is obsessed with keys lately, I should have known that she would have zeroed in on them.
While changing the diaper I hear that she pushed the button to open the trunk door and promptly took them away and put them where they have been, on my seat.
I finished up changing the diaper, buckled Abby into her seat, shut the door and headed over to throw away the diaper.
I thought about leaving the door open because the weather was GORGEOUS but decided against it.
I went to get in the car, and you guessed it, the door was locked.
Okay, maybe I forgot to unlock it and instead only opened up the back door.
Then I tried opening up one of the back doors, locked.
Oh no oh no oh no.
Then I tried opening up the trunk thinking I could climb over the seats, locked.
Oh no oh no oh no.
What am I going to do?
Ok, calm down, call K.
The weather is nice, the kids are okay.
Oh no oh no oh no, my phone got locked in the car.
Oh, I know, I'll ask the neighbors if I can use their phone.

K, I need you to come home right now!
I accidentally locked the keys in the van and the KIDS ARE IN IT!
Honey, I just need you to come home RIGHT NOW!

At this point B is happily sitting in her carseat playing with a toy.
Abby, well, that's a totally different story.
Homegirl was so mad that she took off both of her shoes, one of her socks and was crying.
She was ticked.
Mama, get in the car.
Honey, I will in a few minutes, Daddy is going to come home and open the door for me.

Finally K got home.
Relief, sweet relief.
B never shed a tear and acted as though nothing had happened.
Abby, well, she quickly got over it.
Me, I felt/feel awful.
I called B's mom to tell her what had happened and praise the Lord she was fine with what had happened.

I think that I will be going to bed early tonight, today has had enough drama.

So, cupcake happiness.
For K, Abby, B, B's parents and my sweet neighbors, thank you!
I am so grateful that the weather was so mild for February, thank you Lord!

Lesson learned: always always always keep the keys away from Abby.
Also, always keep your phone in your pocket.

How did THAT happen?

It seems as though the plague {or possible walking pnemonia} has taken up residence at our house.
It has hit hard and strong.
Everyone was home today.

Adison was the last holdout and praise the Lord, but it seems as though having a day of rest has helped her immensely.

The funny thing about this bug is that you start feeling better and thinking that you are over it and then WHAM you are even more sick than before.
K has been in bed for two days.
Lee developed a fever yesterday morning and was miserable most of the day.
She still had a fever this morning but it seems {fingers crossed} to have broken.
Abby is slowly getting better, still coughing and has a runny nose.
Me, well, I am coughing and having headaches almost everyday.
Fun stuff.

Okay, now for the "How did THAT happen?" segment of our program.
Kidding, I've always wanted to say something like that.
First, I will give some background.
Due to the previously mentioned plague, I was nice and NyQuiled up on Saturday evening.

Sunday afternoon, my dad called asking if he could pick up Adison to run some errands with him.
She was thrilled to go.
As I was walking back into the house after walking her to his car I spied something out of the ordinary.
VERY out of the ordinary.
Yep, someone hit our tree.
The tree that K and I keep talking about taking out but haven't done and now probably never will as it probably saved our house from being hit.
{Wow, that was a long sentence!}

They didn't hit it a little bit, they hit it A LOT & hard.
K and I both commented on the fact that we are shocked that they were able to drive away afterwards.

I didn't hear a thing due to my previously mentioned deep sleep courtesy of NyQuil.
K heard something, but it happened at around 2 in the morning and he thought someone had hit a trashcan.
Our poor tree!

How was your weekend?

Sunday, December 4, 2011

Hey Sunday, what's up?

Ainsley had been battling a cold for about four days and seemed to be on the mend.
Abby on the other hand, had just come down with it and was MISERABLE!
Friday morning, Lee seemed so much better, so I sent her on her merry way to school while the oh-so-sick-one and I stayed home and had a chill morning.
Lee hoped off the bus, had her shoes and coat off, and was on the couch within about 30 seconds of walking in the door.
Not normal.
She then started complaining of her left ear hurting.
I knew what that meant, we were going to the doctor.

For the two hours until her appointment, Lee lay on the couch with a heating pad on low on her ear complaining of an earache.
I woke poor, sick Abby up from her nap early to head to go see Dr. C.

Upper respiratory infections for both and the beginning of an ear infection for Lee.
In one word I can explain how they both felt...miserable.

On Saturday I started feeling sick but not too awful.
Lee  was MUCH better and Abby was still about the same.
Last night after dinner K and I were talking.
There have been a lot of things going on lately and I really feel like a certain someone {Satan} is trying to steal my Christmas joy.
Last year, due to what I now know was depression, Christmas was a bit rough for me.
I enjoyed watching my children enjoy it, but for me it was a rough time.
Due to some meds, I have such a better outlook on this year {Christmas is my FAVORITE holiday} and was so looking forward to this year.
Like I said though, things just keep piling up and are threatening to completely overwhelm me.
I can feel it trying to take over and I am trying to shake it.
I am trying to ground myself in Christ and really give this all to Him because I really want to worship and celebrate this season, Christ's birth.
I ended up going to bed early last night, I just couldn't keep my eyes open, and got a wonderful night's sleep.
Today I am feeling so much better.
I think that devoting some extra time in the Word will help tremendously.
I woke up last night when K came to bed and he has caught what the girls have.

As I have mentioned before, K is a severe asthmatic.
I see breathing treatments and steriods in our future.
Would you please pray for him?
Thanks you guys!

Today, I am thinking about making some homemade pizza and trying to decide what yummy treats we should bake when it gets a bit closer to Christmas.
Decisions decisions.
These though are the fun kinds to make, ha ha!
How has your weekend gone?
What is your favorite kind of cookie?

Our Christmas must have are butter balls, yum-o!

She ate it

Yesterday, after Adison's parent/teacher conference we took the kids out to get Halloween costumes.
Scratch that.
We took Adison to get a costume.
Ainsley decided she wanted to be Tinkerbell again this year.
Since having two older sisters and not even being two years old, Abby was going to wear one of their old costumes.

Adison has known for a while now that she wanted to be a vampire for Halloween.
Sounds good, we just had to get one.
While there though, I think Adison's infectious enthusiasm must have rubbed off on Ainsley because suddenly she NEEDED A NEW COSTUME!
Please please please!

K and I looked at each other, smiled and said sure, why not.
Lee picked out an Aurora {Sleeping Beauty} costume.
Shocked, aren't you?
ha ha

Today while walking by the costumes something stood out to me.
What was wrong with the costume?
Probably nothing...I should check.
ARE. YOU. KIDDING. ME!?!
The cat ate part of her costume.

Yes, I said THE CAT.
Ugh, so annoyed.
Not too surprising though.

This particular culprit has a history of eating things she shouldn't.
Plants, ribbon, string, ANYTHING PLASTIC and now Halloween costumes.

Yes, believe it or not this once tiny, precious kitty kitty is a Halloween costume eating fool.

P.S. I am NOT telling Ainsley about it.
She. would. flip.

A case of the Mondays

Today was a rough day, I'm not going to sugarcoat it.
But seeing this smiling face, kissing the rounded cheek of my baby and hearing the laughter of my eldest soothes.

I don't know if I have been particularly sensitive or what, but man today won.
I admit it.

I have been reminded that it my weakness Christ is strong.
That strength and knowledge of it's existence can make rough days more bearable.

With that it mind, the verse that I see printed on my wall reminds me to keep at it.

"Let us keep running the race marked out for us." Hebrews 12:1

Yes, there will be days that are hard, but for me, knowing that this is the race I am supposed to be on makes all the difference.

No internet Thursday

Our internet has been acting wonky.
It's driving me insane!

I know that in reality it is so not a big deal, it just annoys the heck out of me.
I think it boils down to money.

Yep money.
I/We pay for internet and it seems like we are constantly having issues with it.

Sigh.

I sent K a text threatening to get a new modem.
I went to Best Buy, figured out which one we needed {I think} and am now waiting to hear back from him to get his thoughts.
{He's probably shaking his head at me, ha ha!}

The funny thing though, is that when we got home, guess what?

Lo and behold the internet was working.

Seriously.

It doesn't work all day, not that it's a huge deal, but then THEN when I threaten it, look it starts working again!?!

I'm not holding my breath that it will continue to work, but at the moment I feel like shouting WOO HOO!

That means I need to get my tail in gear to work on my Good, Bad & Funny post for tonight.

See y'all later, xoxo

This morning was rough

There's just no way around it.
This morning stunk.
Both literally and figuratively.
Stunk.
It all started when my insomnia that had been on leave decided to try a sneak appearance.
Which really, totally isn't nice.
At all.
{But, K is back home, he got home around midnight last night, woo hoo!}
Anyways.
I had just dragged my weary self out of bed when I hear Ainsley yelling for me.
MOOOOMMMMYYY!
MOMMYYYYYYYYYYYYY!
Then a garbled sentence.
Mommmyyyy!

I finished getting every one's breakfast stuff ready then went to get/wake up children for the morning mad dash to get ready for school.
It never ceases to amaze me that no matter how early I get up, how much planning I do, the morning routine is chaotic.
Seriously chaotic.

After speaking with Ainsley I discover the reason behind her morning wake up call.
{She does this pretty much every morning, this morning there was an actual purpose behind it.}

According to Lee Abby had pooped all over her crib.

Sigh.

Poop, bleh.

I packed up the necessities to deal with this type of situation.
For once I actually remembered to bring the all important diaper wipes with me.
Usually I am trying to carry a messy child down the stairs with whatever else got messy.
This morning though, ha ha, I thought ahead.

Turns out not to be that big of a deal.
There was still poop on the crib sheet, but totally doable.

Then Adison was doing her now typical possum routine.
She likes to pretend to be asleep and then try to scare whomever is around.
Fun.

Okay...
Finally I get everyone downstairs, they have their respective morning stuff.
Milk.
Juice.
The beginnings of breakfast.

I sit down to tackle the atrocity on/in/outside of Abby's diaper.
It was bad.
Adison even commented on how it must be poisonous.

Then Lee starts in with her 3,000 questions in two minutes routine.
Then the whining starts in.
Then more questions.
Then whining, then not listening.
Wow, three almost four year olds are tough.

All while I am attempting to not gag/throw up/get the atrocity on me.

Finally.
Finally I got everything cleaned up, answered all 4,293,648 questions that an almost 4 year old can have in the time frame of approximately 10 minutes and then took Abby in to see her exhausted, sleeping Daddy.

She was thrilled to see him, he was thrilled to see her.
Then Lee came in and the excitement started all over again.
Then Adison and it was just a room filled with excitement and shared stories.

So, I guess that even though the morning was rough and I haven't had my coffee yet {gasp}, the girls got to see their dad for the first time in a couple of days and Adison got to school on time.

I am calling that a success for today.

I am praying that today ends up much more smoothly.
If not though, I will try to find the happiness of it...you know if the coffee can eventually get consumed.

Some words

We have thoroughly enjoyed are time away from home.
The change of scenery and especially our time hanging out with the cousins and my sister-in-law has been just what was needed.
The kids haven't been fighting as much and Ainsley seems to be mellowing a bit.
It has been so nice chatting with Anna and just doing life together with our kiddos.

We are heading home tomorrow.
I am so ready to see K.
I really miss him and I know the kids have too.

Yesterday afternoon we braved the heat and went to Trader Joe's for the first time.
It had just opened and was PACKED.
It was seriously stressful as I had all the kids with me and there were people everywhere.
We picked up a few things and had fun looking at all the different things there.

This morning we {us + SIL + cousins} headed over to Target and had a blast.
We got some popcorn and the kids had a blast chomping on it and talking and holding hands.
Lee was affectionately calling two of her cousins "best friend".
Abby was so tired after our morning jaunt to Target that she slept through me carrying her upstairs AND changing her diaper.

I just realized that school starts really soon.
Yikes.
While I think it will be good to get into a routine again I really enjoy the fluidity of summer.
We basically do what we want to do when we want to.
Abby can nap whenever she wants to, Adison can sleep in a bit.
It's just a lot more relaxed.

Ugh, I am really tired.
Maybe that's why my creative juices aren't flowing...
I didn't sleep well last night and the girls got up EARLY.
I'm hoping to snap out of my creative funk right now so that I can write more entertaining posts.
Sorry for the bleh.

I *plan* on doing Good, Bad and Funny tonight.
Hopefully I will see you later :)

The lost tooth saga continues

For the beginning of the story look here.
That part of the story lead to this one.

K got a phone call a couple of weeks ago from his mom saying that they had found Adison's lost tooth at their house.
We were all pretty shocked and excited, I mean, what is the chance of finding this teeny tiny tooth in someone's house?
Apparently, in Adison's case, the chances were pretty good.

Today when I got the mail I saw that Adison had gotten an envelope from K's parents.
Adison looked confused and wondered what it could be.
I had a sneaking suspicion that it would be her tooth.

Inside was the sweetest note from K's mom to Adison and a plastic bag.
Adison read the note, lifted up the bag, looked at me and then asked:
Mommy, where's my tooth?

Huh?

Lo and behold I look at the bag, it has a hole in it.
I got the envelope to look in it and nothing.

After I told her that she begged me to go look in the mailbox to see if it had fallen in there.
Nothing.

Poor Adison, I felt so bad for her.

I decided to look at the envelope and found a hole in the front of it and a hole in the back of it.

Sigh.

Her tooth is gone.
Yep, no where to be found.

Adison was mildly upset about it.
We decided to write the tooth fairy a note explaining the whole saga.
We can only hope that she will be satisfied with a note rather than a tooth.
I have a sneaking suspicion that a letter will suffice.
*wink wink*

Swims and Spills

SWIMS

Today finally came.
The long-awaited, highly anticipated start of swimming lessons day.
This day has been talked about for months.
And it finally arrived.
You see this girl?

She has been itching to get in the pool.
Beyond excited to try out her little sea legs at swimming lessons.

We get there and they call little Ainsley's name to join her instructor up front.
Lee's excited demeanor quickly evaporates and is replaced with a scared little girl that doesn't want to leave her mama.
I momentarily panicked then quickly told her that I couldn't go with her and that she needed to get up there with her friends.
She shocked me by getting up, heading to the pool with her teacher, grabbing her teacher's hand and walking to their section.
You could have knocked me over with a wet noodle.
She had a blast and surprised me even further by listening the entire time!

This girl here?

She remembers the joys of swimming lessons.
She all but flew out of the bleachers when her name was called and didn't look back.
That's my eldest.
Always ready for something new, for an adventure.
Adison was stoked because she is on a new level this year.
She is ready to own level two.
She did phenomenally well.

SPILLS

After lessons were over we headed to the store to pick up dinner for small group tonight and some other things.
I finally get the lasagna, pick up some cheese, grab a thing of lunch meat {isn't my shopping SOOO exciting?!?!} when we head over to the snack section.
I picked up a bag of chex mix to see if the girls would want that for a snack.
While I'm looking at the bag I realized that it was upside down.
So I go to turn it over to show the girls when THE ENTIRE BAG OF CHEX MIX SPILLS ALL OVER THE FLOOR AND ON MY FEET!
{I am so mad at myself that I didn't get a picture.}
After I got over the initial shock I burst into laughter.
Seriously, who does this sort of thing happen to?
Well, me obviously.

It turns out that someone opened the bag and put it back on the shelf.
Why?
Seriously, why would someone do that?

The girls were all sorts of:
Mama, are you going to tell someone what happened?
Mama, do we need to clean that up?

The little girls had been fighting the ENTIRE TIME at the store but this incident managed to lift their crankiness.
Hey, I'll take their happiness whenever and however I can get it.

I did manage to find someone who works at the store and explained the situation to them.
They seemed to think it was quite funny too.

Oh yeah, did I mention that it was an almost 2lb bag of check mix?
Yeah, the mess pretty much took over the entire width of the aisle.

The Father's Day that wasn't

Poor K, today was not the Father's Day that I had envisioned for him.
Not that I am sure how *exactly* I had hoped the day would go.
I assumed {that was my first mistake} that he would get to sleep in this morning.
My hubs really likes to sleep in.

Then we would have a calm, peaceful {ha ha!} day doing whatever he wanted.
Whether that be him sitting on the couch doing nothing, him taking a nap or basically whatever he had hoped to do.

What I had hoped for and what actually happened could not have been more different.
Sigh.

I will start at the the beginning for you.

I was awakened this morning to the sounds of crying.
Ugh, not a great way to start the day but not abnormal either.
I hopped out of bed and got the morning necessities {aka milk and juice} when I hear Adison say:

Mommy, Ainsley took Abby's clothes off and Abby took her diaper off.
I'm thinking: Ugh, seriously.
Me: Ainsley, why did you take Abby's clothes off?
Ainsley: Mama, can I have some juice?
*Abby crying*
Me: Hold on Abby, Mama's coming.
Me: Yes, Lee, your juice is on the table.

I go to get Abby and bring her milk with me as I am expecting to have to take her sheets off of her bed and that would delay her milk consumption.
Abby is much happier after her milk, kind of like her mama and her coffee.
You pretty much always need to have her milk ready ASAP.

I quickly realized that the situation was MUCH worse than anticipated.

Abby has her clothes and diaper off but that's not all.
SHE HAD POOPED!
There was poop EVERYWHERE!
Her blanket, the crib sheet, the mattress pad and her Abby Ka Dabby doll.
Oh and IT'S ALL OVER HER!

Mental picture time:
I'm trying to carry a naked, poopy baby toddler down the stairs while carrying nasty sheets, all the while I am trying to NOT get poop all over me.
Abby is holding/drinking her milk when she either throws {which she LOVES to do} or drops her entire sippy cup of milk on the floor.
It doesn't just fall, IT EXPLODES.
Yep, an entire sippy cup of milk all over the floor and a poop covered child.
So much fun, NOT.

I called for back up, my hubby that was supposed to be sleeping in for Father's Day.
So not how I had envisioned things.

Oh yeah, did I mention that he hadn't been able to sleep last night so only managed about 40 minutes of sleep.
I was not thrilled, but mama needed a back up.

K got the milk cleaned up and got Abby a refill while I cleaned up and bathed the babe.

After all that I mention to K that maybe that means that the day will be wonderfully smooth and relaxing for Father's Day.
K is more of a pessimistt realist, his response:
No, this probably sets the standard for the rest of the day.

Yes, unfortunately, he was right.

While he did manage to get a few more hours of sleep in and we were able to go out to lunch to celebrate my hubby and the wonderful father that he is.

The afternoon though, while he slept a bit more, was AWFUL!
I am not kidding you, one of the worst.

We made it through it though and actually managed to finish on a very positive note.

K was a trooper though, no complaining about it being Father's Day and that it wasn't going quite like he had hoped.

We decided to end the evening having an at home date night.
Have I mentioned what a catch he is?

Next year, yes, next year will be a better one...hopefully...I make no promises though.

It was a tearful morning

My baby is now 18 months old.
I know that I have requested it before, but can we PLEASE pretend that 18 months = baby and not toddler?
Thank you very much.

Abby's 15 month appointment was an abysmal affair.
She cried and cried and cried.
It broke my mama heart into a gazillion pieces.

Today there were a lot of tears too.
She HATES going to the doctor.
Hates it.
Every single stinkin' minute of it.

I feel really awful for our doctor.
Luckily he doesn't take it personally.
He even said so...and it's not his first time mentioning it...I really hope that means that a lot of his patients cry the entire time.
Right?

My girl is now 21 lbs 11oz.
She is in the 10th - 25%, but on the chart she was a tiny bit above the 10th %.
Yep, my baby is a tiny dancer.
She is now 32 inches tall.
50th to 75th %, right there in the middle.
She has a typical large noggin like my other girls, although hers is the smallest.
75th - 90th %.

Her umbilical hernia is getting smaller.
Yay!
Everything else looks amazing.
She is developmentally right on track and doing great.

Then came the part where he asked about her being sick the last couple of weeks.
After hearing her symptoms he decided that it would be a good idea to clean out her ears so that he could get a better look.
It was torture.
The first ear she kicked and screamed and was attempted to flail her arms all over the place.
It took the doctor, a nurse and myself to hold her down.
For the second ear she put up a bit of a fight, but not as much.
{Let me tell ya, it feels absolutely awful to have to do this. Knowing that it is necessary and helps eases the guilt, but ugh, mama needed some cuddle time with her afterwards.}
Luckily her ears look fine.

After that came time for her vaccines.
Ugh, yep.
She got shots.
She again cried and cried.
I wanted to cry with her.

Now she is sleeping.
I hope that when she wakes up she is feeling okay.
It's just hard since she was JUST starting to feel and act better, that this could mean more not feeling good for her.
Sigh.

Remember this photo from a couple of weeks ago?
I am praying that she doesn't feel this bad for a long time.

While there, one of our wonderful nurses gave Ainsley a talkin' to about not eating rocks.
I may or may not have cracked a grin when this happened.
Ainsley looked properly instructed and repentant.
Let's just hoped that it actually worked.
**fingers crossed**

P.S. after her appointment and getting her down for a nap, I totally needed to rest.
Lee and I laid in my room and watched a movie.
Taking the kids to appointments wears me out.

I'm not having fun

Things are not all rainbows and glitter here at the house of cupcakes.
To be honest, they are the polar opposite.
I'm feeling very stressed and overwhelmed.

The air conditioner is out.
If you have ever lived in the Midwest with no a/c you know how miserable that is.
It's hot y'all and humid.
I think that it's been out since either late Sunday or sometime Monday.
I finally figured it out yesterday afternoon.
There are other things going on too.
Nothing bad or horrible.
But, I am grumpy.
The good thing is that I know that things will change.
Things will start looking up and getting better.
Right now though I am stuck in the thick of it.

I need a nap.

Instead I am going to listen to some Bob Marley and pretend like I am on the beach.
Ahhh.

What's the opposite of a fever?

Taken from a while ago

Yep, I'm still under the weather.
Better than yesterday, but my couch is still my bff-eva!
Here's my question though: What is the opposite of a fever?
Because I've got that.
Yep.
Feeling feverish and all around yuck, only to take my temp and it says 97.6.
What does that mean?

In other news: Ainsley and Abigail are showing signs of the sickness.
Lee has been coughing and sneezing.
Abby looks like she has been attacked by neon green paint, homegirl's nose is yucky.

On the positive though, they are both happy.
We have spent our morning cuddled on the couch watching Tangled.
That is briefly interrupted by making a jumpy bridge with all of our pillows and playing soccer.
SCOOOOORE!

Today is Thursday.
Something interesting: Since Adison has started spring soccer it has rained every Thursday which just so happens to be practice day.
I forewarned K that he will be taking her to practice this evening.
I just don't have it in me.
My couch and I have a date.

Oh, I had a parenting first yesterday.
Ainsley told me:
Mama, if you don't buy me a piggy I won't be a part of your family anymore.
{She didn't get the piggy.}
Folks, this is one step away from telling me that she hates me.
This has never happened before.
Adison NEVER said anything like this.
I'm not naive enough to think that it would never happen but I seriously hoped that it wouldn't.
It seems like every mother I have talked to have had those three dreaded words said to them.
I hate you.
I am bracing myself for it yet hoping that it never comes.

In other news, Adison only has 14 days of school left.
Then it is time for SUMMER!
I am ready.
Ready for my girl to be home.
Ready to have all three cupcakes together.
It doesn't seem possible that 2nd grade is almost over.
That's probably because it has been so cold this spring.
The idea of Adison being a 3rd grader seems unreal.
It seems like that is a big year, that they are no longer the "little kids" at school.
Will you hold me if I cry?

Happy Cinco de Mayo!
Adison's class is having a fiesta.
She's super excited and has a big tissue paper flower in her hair.
Ole!

Okay, that's all I've got for now.
I've been sitting upright for too long and my friend the couch is calling for me.

Thanks for all of your sweet words yesterday, you guys are seriously the best!

The pooping bandit

Warning, this is a nasty one.

Last night after dinner Abby took her own diaper off for the first time.
K was on the couch and mentioned it to me.
I looked over and giggled, it was pretty funny.
She was so proud of herself!

Two seconds later I look down and see that she is squating down and she POOPED!
Shocking!
Not so funny anymore.
I squeal something to K along the lines of:

Honey! Abby just pooped on the floor!
No, way really!?!
Yes, she just squated on the floor and pooped!

I asked K to diaper her again since I was cleaning up the poop.
{Thank goodness for hardwood floors!}
But he got distracted.

A few seconds later I hear:
Honey, it smells like poop still.
Well, maybe it's because she just pooped???
.
.
.
No, honey it really smells like poop still.
.
.
.
OH MY GOODNESS, DANNA! THE BABY HAS POOP ON HER FACE!
WHAT!?!

Yes, folks, our darling little princess pooped on the floor again!
Then, played in it and smeared it on herself.
Yuck!

K starts freaking out about her having poop on herself.
So I am trying to clean her off while trying to make sure that she doesn't get it on anything else while K starts cleaning up her new mess.
This time we were not so lucky, homegirl pooped on the rug.

After pivoting in circles for several seconds I finally ask K to help hold her still so I can wipe the majority of it off of her so I can get her in the tub.
Yuck.

Finally, in the tub and clean all seems well and under control.
Bedtime routine proceeds, no big deal.
K and I watch a movie together.
All is well and idylic.

That is until I brush my teeth before going to bed.
I then notice the dried poop on my shirt.
To be honest, it didn't faze me.
I think after dealing with children's bodily fluids for this long, ehhh, no biggie.

K however was completely grossed out.
I may or may not have chuckled about that one.

Never a dull moment in the house of cupcakes.

Some Easter hoppiness and today

On Friday after dropping Adison off at school the little girls and I headed to the store to pick up some Easter egg dye.
Lee picked out the dye.
You're not surprised by this either, are you?

Since Adison didn't have a soccer game on Saturday morning, we decided that we would dye the eggs then.
My plan went nothing like I "planned" but at least we had a goal and it got accomplished.
We decided to wait until Abby took a nap.
She wouldn't have understood and it wouldn't have been as much fun for her.

The big girls though loved it!
Adison really took her time working on her eggs.
Lee on the other hand wanted to draw on and dye as many eggs as humanly possible!
Adison worked on 6, I worked on 2 and K and Lee did 10.
Yes, we did 18 eggs.
I am thinking that I will have to double this for next year.

She was really into it this year and took her time.

Lee was fascinated watching the eggs change colors.

Pretty little eggies!

The glitter in the dye.
Looks pretty, didn't really work out how the box had it pictured.
Glitter + kids = fun not matter what!

Eggs!

Lee got a bit bored, here's K quick thinking craft idea.
It was a hit.

Adison's darling chick egg, she's so creative!

+++++++++++

After we had our fun, festive Easter morning and going to church was nixed {Lee had super gunky eyes} we decided to have a fun family day.

Lee loved her Easter dress.

I walked in the living room and saw the older girls watching a movie in the laundry basket.
Yes, they chose to do this.
I don't get it but they loved it.

Abby hanging out with Daddy in her pretty dress.

Abby and Me!!!!

She wasn't really looking in either picture, so I decided to add them both, ha!

She's getting some really loose curly bits in the back.
{The picture does not do them justice.}

Abby and K.
The big girls were too busy hanging out in the laundry basket.

Okay, flash forward and Ainsley eyes start looking really bad.
They didn't look like pink eye, but weren't responding to the allergy medicine.
K and I decided to call the doctor's office this morning to get pink eye meds for her.
It had to be that.
Right?
So, she woke up this morning and looked like this!
Oh my goodness, my poor child looks like a zombie!

Yes, I HAD to run to the store this morning, but we were safe and I took the proper precautions.
Yes, we were getting crazy looks from people, her eyes really look that bad.
Oh and I got her some pink eye meds.
I HOPE that they start working ASAP!

Okay, y'all, I hope that you had a blessed Easter!
What did you end up doing?
