Bullied

I had plans today to write about the slew of seflies that Abby took this morning or about Ainsley wearing her princess crown all the time or maybe about Adison's first science fair project.

All of that was pushed to the recesses of my mind when I picked my girl up from school today.

She was pale, drawn looking, she looked like she was in pain.
Hurt was spread across her face and my momma heart hurt just looking at her even though I didn't know the reason.

She hopped in the van and I immediately asked her what was wrong.
She said she didn't want to talk about it at first and her lip started quivering.
I saw the tears build-up in her eyes and her face flush.

Then the dam broke.
A boy that she has been having problems with for several years is messing with her again.
He messed with her on two separate occasions.
He called her names, awful names.
He criticized her and lied about her.
He poked fun at her.
He bullied her.

My girl, my precious girl that is just so ... intense, amazing, intelligent, thoughtful, full of spark and life, my girl who marches to the beat of her own drum.
My girl.

We've dealt with him with this before.
It was awful.

My girl is being hurt.

It's unacceptable.
I feel the momma bear in my heart roaring.

Tomorrow.
Tomorrow I will call the principal {who is amazing} and get this worked out again.
Again.

Will you guys please pray for Adison?
That she can see his lies for what they really are.
That this won't be a defining situation for her?
That this boy will have his eyes opened to the hurt that he is causing.
That K and I have the words to speak to ease her aching heart.

Thank you so much, from the bottom of my heart.

I've been a bad blogger

The way of the samurai includes a princess dress

Hello lovelies, I'm still here.

The link for my last post was posted on a website so now hundreds of people have now seen the beauty that is my "Cankle".
My cankle is no more though, instead it's just a big bruise that is slowly, ever so slowly fading.
I'm still wearing my air cast and my ankle is still painful.
The weird thing though is that if I have my cast off and lift my ankle it feels weak and heavy if that makes any sense.
Maybe from the ligament strain?
I have no idea, but fear not Mom, I am still vigilantly wearing my cast.
I'm not the most compliant of patients nor am I very patient so this is really saying something.

Another medical issue, has anyone ever been bitten by a brown recluse spider before?
I've been bit twice {yay me! -- sarcasm} but site where I was bitten on my toe has flare-ups a few times a year.
It gets red and swollen and hurts to bend the joint.
Anyone ever heard of that before?
I'm planning on calling my dr about it tomorrow.

Adison is having Spring Break right now.
It's equal parts awesome and OH MY GOODNESS WHEN WILL SCHOOL START AGAIN!
The fighting, oh the fighting.
Sibling rivalry at it's finest which means it leaves me ready to rip my hair out at the end of the day.
I may or may not {read DID} text K today around 4:30 telling him it was time to come home now.
Of course he couldn't but it felt better calling for reinforcements.
The fighting is mainly between the older two girls, one is a button pusher and one has some very sensitive buttons.
One has ZERO patience for her sister{s} and  has flare towards snottiness directed more towards one sister than the other.
This is then causing the little ones to fight more.
Sigh
I love my girls and could not be thrilled to have three of them, but I have no sisters and this dynamic is still new to me.
Plus, my brother and I got along famously, I honestly don't recall fighting with him that often.
K continually reassures me that this is normal sibling stuff.

K brought home The Hobbit today, we had Family Movie Night with pizza.
The girls LOVED the movie.
There were some kind of scary scenes but even Abby thought those parts were exciting.
It was so sweet watching her cuddle on the recliner with K and hugging him during the suspenseful parts.
Adison and Ainsley asked if they could watch The Lord of the Rings Trilogy now.

We got the dye to make some hard-boiled Easter eggs next week.
The girls are on countdown and Ainsley has already asked if we can make some deviled eggs with the red stuff {paprika}.
We are also on countdown for Easter.
I love hearing them talk about the real reason for it.
Sure, the bunny and candy are fun but the real reason behind it is so much more important.
When asked why we celebrate Easter, Ainsley answered:
Because Jesus died on the cross and rose from the grave.
Yes He did.

What's new with you?
I'm planning on watching a documentary about George Washington and then going to sleep.
Exciting!

I have a cankle

Yesterday my ankle, yes, I promise that's an ankle looked like this. (The squiggle lines are from my socks and the ace bandage I had wrapped around it.)
Yuck.

I still didn't go to the doctor though.
1. We have a high deductible insurance plan. Yay for insurance but it costs us mucho dinero to go to the doctor.
2. I have this fear that when I go to the doctor that they are going to tell me that nothing is wrong and I'm just a big 'ol baby.

So the idea of going to the doctor, spending lots of money only to be told that there's nothing wrong with me and I need to put my big girl pants on is less than ideal.

Yesterday though K got home from work, took one look at my cankle and promptly told me that I NEEDED to get it checked out.
In other words, it was nasty looking and needed a medical professional stat!

So, I did what any rational person would, I went to the PTO meeting first and then headed over.

I took a pic for my mom. She has a weird thing about seeing medical stuff like I do and she's my mom.

Ankles are so overrated, especially when you can no longer find yours.

The doctor said that it was definitely swollen and bruised (the picture doesn't do it justice).

A physical exam and three X-rays later and a sprained ankle was diagnosed.
My consolation prize was a lovely air cast and instructions to ice, rest and elevate said ankle.

So attractive.

Today I got the good news that the radiologist that looked at my X-rays today didn't see any fractures just soft tissue swelling.

Good news and I'll take it.
Now I'm just praying that I have one of those sprains that's better than a fracture rather than those pesky ones that can be worse according to my mom and Jennifer.

If you need me I'll be attempting to keep my ankle up and praying I heal quickly so I can get back to the gym ASAP!

Happy happy happy until I wasn't

The girls are obsessed with pancakes right now.
I've been making a pretty large batch, enough so I can freeze some for an extra breakfast or two.
Lately though, the kids have been eating them all within a day or two.
These are Ainsley's current favorites, she calls them "Wonder Woman" pancakes because we put red sprinkles in them.

I've been having a creative itch lately, the need to create something.
I decided to make some hoop art.
I made five of them and can't wait to show them to you guys when I get them hung up.

Abby, my Abby.
Homegirl has been EXTRA naughty.
::sigh::
This evening's naughtiness was getting into my makeup.
She was oh so proud of herself.
It would be a lot easier to be upset with her if she wasn't so darn cute, but cuteness can only take you so far (at least that is what I am ATTEMPTING to tell her).

Now, for my less than awesome news.
I fell down the stairs tonight.
My ankle hurts, I told K that the last time I was in this much pain is when I was in labor last time.
Ouch.

How was your weekend lovelies?

6 pics on the 6th

I'm feeling better but still not great so I decided to treat myself to a cherry coke this morning for
Sonic.
It was delish and I'm sure what the doctor would order {not}

I can admit freely here without shame that I have a deep and abiding love for coffee.
After being up half the night coughing this warm, liquid gold was tasty.
Drinking it makes my throat feel better too, I think I'm going to make some more.

On our way to the car to get Adison we spied our ever-shrinking snowman.
He's gotten significantly smaller and while the kids are sad {especially Ainsley} they keep putting his arms and sunglasses back on.
We are enjoying him while we have him.

I had I think three laundry baskets full of clean laundry to fold at the end of last week, with getting sick this weekend that number doubled.
I had six SIX laundry baskets full of clothes to fold.
It took the majority of the morning, not kidding, wish I was, but as of right this second all of the clean laundry in this house is folded.
That'll change by tonight but for now I will relish in this small but fleeting victory.

This girl, well, homegirl has been a handful today.
She has insisted on wearing her much loved and well-worn princess dress and has had this tiara on her head practically all day.
Yes, I am that mom who's kids are more likely than not to be wearing dress up clothes as actual clothes, it keeps life interesting :)

Last but certainly not least I got this sweet girl from school.
I missed her face, it was and is good to have her home.

That's today, my 6 pics on the 6th, a small glimpse into our everyday life.

We're sick

We are a family of sickies, the littlest two are pretty much done with it.
Adison is almost over it, girlie rarely if ever gets sick.
K and I, well, K spent the entire weekend and today as well as most likely tomorrow.
I was feeling good on Saturday but then got hit by the sick bus on Sunday and have spent most of the last two days in bed as well.
Bleh.
We've spent our time sleeping and all five of us have piled onto our bed to watch some Duck Dynasty, it's funny Jack!
I will hopefully be back soon with some funny stories to share, for now though I'm going to find some nighttime cold medicine and dream about having a pet unicorn (I REALLY hope I can dream about that, it would be awesome!!!)
