70 degrees in December...what!?!?

No, I didn't type that incorrectly.
Yes, I am talking about today, December 30, 2010.
Yes, I am talking about my state of Kansas.
Yes, it really was 70 today.

To be honest though, it really didn't feel like 70.
It was windy and that strong wind was cold.
I seriously though was pretty comfortable in a long sleeve shirt and pants.
(A sweatshirt would have been better though.)

In honor of our rare warm day here in the Sunflower State, the girls and I went to the park
They played and played and played.
Who knows, we might not see weather like this again until the end of April.

Abby and I hanging out.
Love using the carrier!

Ainsley on the slide.

A few pics of Adison.
She was running around and playing with all the other kids.
I was lucky to get some of them with her being stationary.

Ainsley swinging.
I loved the way that the wind blew her hair around in the pictures.
I thought they turned our really pretty.

Yes, we made the most of this warm reprieve.
I know that they cold is coming.
Saturday the high is only 31, brr!

A thoughtful homemade gift

I L-O-V-E homemade gifts.
In fact, I wish that I were a little more crafty so that I could make all of the gifts we give to people.
Maybe that is a bit of a reach for a goal...I wish that I could even USE my sewing machine.
I can turn it on, does that count for anything?

Back on track.
Anyways, my dear friend Clara made the cutest Christmas gifts for Adison and Ainsley.
When they opened them, they both squealed with delight.
To be honest, I squealed, too.
I admit it, they are just so darn cute!

I am so very grateful to have such an amazing and thoughtful friend!
Thank you so much Clara!

How about you, can you sew?
I really really really want to learn how to.
Maybe that is something that I can work on for the new year...

'Twas the day after Christmas and our house was freezing...

As previously stated, we visited K's family Christmas Day.
We planned on coming back the next day around 1:30 so that we could get some food prepped for a Christmas celebration at my brother's house.

We get home, get the kiddos inside and K starts unpacking the car.
All of a sudden we realize OUR HOUSE IS FREEZING.
While I prep food, hubby starts fiddling with the heater.
In the meantime, the kids are cold, teeth chattering cold.

Hubby finishes unpacking the car and I start praying.
Please dear Lord, please let this be no big deal. Please, please, please.
K goes to the basement and figures out what is wrong with the heater, the ignitor on it isn't working.
Uh oh.
We decide to worry about it when we get back.
We have space heaters and a fireplace, we will be a-okay for the night.

We get back from my brother's, hubby checks the thermostat and it says it is in the mid-to-low 50's.
Brrrrrrr.
It was time for the girls to go to bed, they were nice and toasty with space heaters humming.
K just happened to know someone out of state that fixes heaters.
He told K that he too thought that the ignitor was broken and we should be able to pick up the part and K could fix it.

The next morning, after driving all around the city he FINALLY finds the part.
K, my hubby, fixed the heater and probably saved us over $200!
Woo hoo!

Abby's taken a few...stubbies?

On Christmas Eve, the three pink cupcakes and I joined my Dad at McDonald's for some lunch.
The girls were so excited to go and see their Papa.
While eating my Dad and I were talking about the fact that Miss Abigail is just on a different schedule than the other girls were.
The main thing that is that Abby is still not walking.
She actually has very little desire (if any at all) to walking independently.
She will cruise around things just fine but if you try to help her walk she will normally do this s-l-o-w, cautious descent to the floor and promptly crawl away as fast as her little body can take her.

Adison was distracted, looking at her toy, eating and talking with Ainsley.
All of a sudden her little voice interjects, "Abby has taken a few stubbies."
Huh?
What?
Dad and I look at each other and start laughing.
"What Adison?"
"What are stubbies?"
She then realized her goof and started laughing herself.
Silly girl.
When asked what stubbies were she confessed that she had no clue.
She did however have a lot of fun making silly sayings with her new word.

A Christmas Recap

It's a Christmas recap!
Oh so exciting.
We had the most wonderful Christmas ever!
It was full of family, fun, Christ and laughter.

*************
Monday before Christmas at my Dad and Step-Mom's house
*************

We had a wonderful time hanging out together and had the yummiest tomato mac & cheese.
It was amazing.
I only got a couple of pics though, my camera decided to be oh so thoughtful and the battery died.

Adison and Papa (my Dad)

Lee was eyeing the Christmas presents, too busy to take a picture.

Abby and I, she didn't want to be in the picture.

Hubs and myself.
Don't you love bedhead and no make-up?

This for me is one of the best pics.
The girls were so excited and happy.

Ains sitting on her Pillow Pet.
She kept saying, "I got the yady bug!"
For our kiddos, it was the MUST HAVE GIFT.

Adison modeling her new hat.

The girls helping Abby open her present from Santa.

Abby in awe of Despicable Me.
She liked playing with the trash more than her presents.

Christmas afternoon at K's parent's house
*************

We had so much fun.
The kids ran around together and played.
There was yummy food to eat, fun conversations and karaoke.

The new family photo. Smiles and everyone is looking at the camera. Score!

Lee just had to have a picture with her "yady bug"

All the cousins lined up in a row waiting to open their stockings.
They were amazing! They did their stocking one by one starting with the youngest.
They were so patient, there was nary a peep to be heard.

Adison and Abby .
Adison was so cute and helped Abby open her stocking.

Abby trying to swipe something off of the table.

Ainsley opening one of her presents.

We celebrated at my brother and sister-in-law's house.
My mom and step-dad came into town to celebrate.
We had so much fun and my SIL is an amazing host.
My little niece Cameron was just too cute for words!

That's it folks.
Our Christmas extravaganza.
It was fun and I can't wait until next year!

What about you, how was your Christmas?
