Friday ramblings

~This morning the kids were wild, WILD I tell you.
So I did what any other stay at home mama does when her sanity is at stake:
I told the kids we were going on an outing.
I had no idea where I wanted to take them as it rained all day yesterday and last night.
All of a sudden I decided that the zoo was the place to go.

The girls and I thought this little turtle was just precious.
We stood their for a good several minutes just watching it chomp on some lettuce.

Abby was especially interested in watching it.
She kept waving at it and saying "Hi!"
Yes, she did suddenly become a toddler although I CANNOT really admit it to myself, it would just break my heart.
Instead I choose to still call her my baby.

The zoo had so many things for the kids to climb.
Abby was really into crawling on everything.
I was thrilled that she sat still long enough for me to snap some pics.

~I am seriously considering cutting my hair.
Cutting it short.
I feel like it has been long for such a long time that a change would be nice.

~I am seriously missing Adison.
Like a lot.
She has been gone since Sunday.
Sigh.
We pick her up tomorrow though, so that is wonderful!
I think it has been even worse as she does NOT like talking on the phone.

~I am loving blogging again.
I feel like writer's block or whatever was keeping me from really writing has been lifted.
Yippee!
Maybe it was my sinus infection/ear infection that was blocking my thoughts from coming through...

~I am currently craving a cupcake.
Like madly craving it.
I would also really like a frou frou, fancy coffee to go with it.
While I'm at it, how about dinner just showing up too.
I mean, why not go for it, right?

~My brother's wedding is a little more than 3 weeks away!
We are having a lot of family come in town, I can't wait.

~My house is a disaster.
Plain and simple disaster.
I have been trying to keep up with it, but Abby and Ainsley seem to have some tag-team Tasmanian Devil thing going on because it feels impossible.
Oh well, no biggie.

~I just finished reading The Hunger Games trilogy.
It was really good.
K read all the books too.
I love when he and I read the same books, it is so fun discussing them.

~I think that's it...I'm off to "try" to clean my mess of a house.
I just can't handle the mess.
I'm thinking it may be time to purge toys.

Have a great weekend everyone!
What are your plans?

It's a list, I apologize in advance

Yep, a list.
Even the idea of having to put actually sentences together to form a cohesive thought is a bit much.
I'm sorry.

1. I have spent the day on the couch.
At one point today I had all three of my cupcakes cuddling with me.
It was wonderful.
It was sweet.
I am still sick.
I naively thought I was getting better yesterday only to be slammed with feeling MUCH worse.
Ugh.
Oh well, it could be worse.
I really have ZERO room to complain.

2. I bought new cold medicine today.
So exciting.
I bought this specific one because it said non-drowsy on it.
Yeah, not so much.
Thank goodness for nap time.

3. I bought the book Water for Elephants a couple of weeks ago.
I'm not that far into it yet but am totally loving it.
I love reading, like a lot.

4. Abby has been really cute lately.
Her new word is "Happy."
She likes to say it over and over again.
I love it.

5. I still haven't caught up on my blog reading yet.
Sigh.
Sorry.
The joy of getting sick right after getting back in town.

6. Sorry for not much on here, I am headed back to the couch.

xoxo, me

Easter and other randoms

1. Easter is quickly approaching.
We have been talking about the meaning of Easter as a family and explaining it.
Adison understands the importance and can explain things to Ainsley as well, big sisters rock!

My dear friend, Clara, made us this darling Easter count down activity.

How cute is this?
It's even pink, PERFECTION!

How it works is that each day has a scripture and an egg to go with it.
Each egg has an item inside that coincides with the verse{s}.

This year K is reading the verse and the {big} girls are alternating who gets to open the egg.
Next year Adison will probably read while the littles take turns opening.
This is such an awesome thing to do as a family.

2. I don't know if it is because it is Spring or what, but I am totally in love with blush.
{More in love with it than usual.}
My current obsession is a really pinky pink.
{P.S. Please ignore the dark circles/bags under my eyes, I am not sleeping well again. Blah!}

3. Abby is teething again.
Yes, her lone molar has been fighting it's way through for 2 weeks now.
The last few days she has been crying and crying.
Add that to Ainsley's current temper tantrums/sibling rivalry thing and we've got a lot of crying going on {them, not me...yet}.
So much so that on Monday night I treated myself to one of these.
It was wonderful and now I want another one.
{I haven't mentioned my love of cupcakes before, have I?}

4. Thanks to Erin {aka Daydreaming Fool} via Twitter the other day, I discovered that I have Wisteria growing in my back yard.
It smells wonderful, I wish it lasted longer.
Plus, I don't have to do anything to it/with it to get it to grow and come back each year.
This is the perfect relationship for me to have with a plant.

5. I wore this shirt the other day.
I just had to share because it made me feel pretty and girly.
I especially love that it is an unexpected girly feeling shirt since it is this dark, cobalty blue color.
I don't think that accurately describes the color though.

6. I have noticed this weird thing with coffee lately.
Why is it that two cups of coffee even from the same pot and with roughly the same amounts of milk/creamer can taste so differently?
Anyone else ever ponder these things?
No, oh okay, well I ponder them.

7. I have a confession to make.
I don't decorate for Easter.
Or really any other holiday for that matter other than Christmas {which I REALLY decorate}.
I just felt the need to get that off of my chest.
Whew, what a relief.

8. I am really annoyed with Mother Nature.
I started getting really excited, thinking that this year it might not be too cold for the sleeveless Easter dresses that they ONLY sell.
I started envisioning warm, sunny weather {with a slight breeze} and seeing my girls outside looking for Easter eggs in their festive attire.
Then Mother Nature decided that she didn't like my vision and has given us cold, windy, rainy weather.
Dear Mother Nature, that's not nice!

Another list...sorry!

1. Well, it is almost Christmas. The excitement buzzing around our house is almost palpable. I love it! Today we had to go run a couple of errand and the stores weren't too bad. Don't get me wrong, it was busy and there was a lot of traffic, but this year people are actually nice. What a breath of fresh air!

2. There is a little girl named Getty that has a disease called SMA1. According to their website:

Spinal muscular atrophy is an inherited disease that causes progressive muscle degeneration and weakness. Infants like Getty with SMA Type 1 are born with very little muscle tone, weak muscles, and develop feeding and breathing problems over time. Weakness gets worse over time and will eventually become severe. There is no cure or treatment for the progressive weakness. The lifespan with SMA1 is seldom longer than 2 – 3 years.

Getty is the cutest, sweetest little girl with the most AMAZING parents. They are asking everyone to spread the word about SMA. It is an awful disease and it needs more research being done so that no one else should have to suffer with it. Check out their blog, I am sure that you will be just as enchanted by this little girl's smile and I am. (Here button is on the right side of this page -------->)

3. Adison informed me a little while ago that she told her teachers and classmate about me burning my butt when I was a child. Yes, I burned my butt. We were visiting family and I was getting ready for bed. I was about 3 and was running around naked when my great uncle bent over and squished me in between me and the heater grate. I had horizontal burn marks on my bum for quite a while. Yes, I am so very grateful that that story was shared :)

4. Tomorrow the girls and I are doing our Christmas baking because Santa just has to have those freshly baked cookies.

5. Abby has been eating like a maniac! At my Dad's the other night she ate 4 servings of dinner, she ate more than I did. At lunch she at as much as Ainsley and last night she ate two entire bean burritos by herself. This girl is finally putting on weight. Woo hoo!

6. There is a little baby boy named Samuel that is needing some prayers. Please please please lift him up in prayers!

7. That's all for now folks. I am off to watch a movie with Adison!

A list...well because it sounds good

1. Adison's Mountain Group sang at church on Sunday. They sang Third Day's Children of God. It was so wonderful listening to their little voices sing such an amazing song. They also sing the opening music for Sarah Palin's Alaska. K and I saw them in concert a couple of months ago. Their music is amazing, check them out!

2. Someone (I am thinking Ainsley) switched the thermostat from the heater to air conditioning, brrr!

3. Abby's little personality has been showing itself more often lately. She has a TEMPER and a love for baby dolls. It will be interesting to see how her little personality works with the other kiddos.

4. Ainsley today told me that we needed to keep Abby from away from the cat food because if she eats it she will turn into a cat. I have no idea where she comes up with these things. Does she think that our 3 cats used to be children???

5. Adison told me that she is going to miss school during Christmas break, she will miss her teachers and friends. How cute! (That was not me as a child!)

6. We are about half way done with our Christmas shopping. Woo hoo!

7. I am not doing a Christmas card this year, it just seemed like too much. Maybe next year...

8. Happy Monday!

A lot of different things

1. Adison cracks me up. After dinner last night she asked if she could tell me a secret. I, of course, said yes. She then leans over and whispers very theatrically, "I really love your socks and sometimes sneak them to wear to school." Ha ha, I love the idea of my little tiny 8 year old wearing her mother's socks to school. Yes, sometime in the future I will share that golden nugget with her...preferrably in front of a future boyfriend...if K and I ever decide she is allowed to date...which she is not...well, maybe when she is 30.

2. Ainsley has been REALLY naughty lately. Last night while "getting ready for bed" she decided to play with soap in the bathroom. I found it all over the sink, vanity and dripping onto the floor. She just flashes that dimpled smile and somehow I forget everything. Huh, why didn't that work when I was a kid???

3. Abby's tooth finally came in but she is worrying me. Her lymph nodes are swollen on her neck and groin. She will be seen at the dr's tomorrow. I would really appreciate some prayers, I will let you know asap what is going on with my sweetie. She is also so stinkin' cute and is starting to imitate what we do, she is also saying, "BOO!".

4. I had a good cry yesterday and am finally in the Christmas spirit. Can I blame it on hormones please? I know I had a hysterectomy but those pesky hormones are still popping up every 4 weeks.

5. I am convinced that I have the most wonderful hubby ever. K is funny, thoughtful and a wonderful daddy. I couldn't ever ask for more.

6. I talked with my mom this morning, her poor Greyhound, Sport, had to have two teeth removed and was a hurtin' unit. Sport is the sweetest dog ever, he thinks he is a lap dog even though he is the size of a small horse. When Adison was little she used to moo at him like a cow since he was so large.

7. I don't have a #7, but thought it was a good number to end on...how about how I need to tackle the laundry before it decides to grow legs and attack us?

Happy Thursday y'all!
