One of my favorite vacations that K and I have ever taken was to Coeur D'Alene, Idaho.
We went in the summer of 2004 to celebrate K's Grandfather's 90th birthday and to have a family reunion.
Adison was about a year and a half old.
Look at that cute little face.
We went to K's Grandfather and Step-Grandmother's house and the gardens there rivaled any that I have ever seen.
I am talking every color and size that you can imagine.
It was such a treat.

It was such a treat.
Everything was so clean, fresh and green looking.
We went hiking every single day.
There were so many mountains to choose from.
I was especially excited since I had never seen mountains like these before.
I tried to look tough and strong one day with Adison on my back, I totally couldn't do it.
That is why you see my strong hubby carrying her all the time.
Embarrassing story time.
One morning, we had hiked over half way up the mountain when we decided to look down at how far we had gone.
While looking around someone had noticed that someone had left a car door open.
We were all joking and laughing about until I looked down and realized it was our car and I had left the door open.
Luckily some more people from our family were coming and they shut the door for us, but I was so embarrassed.
We went really far north towards the Canadian border one afternoon.
According to the travel book we bought it was supposed to be a quick drive up there.
It took hours!
We were out in the middle of NO WHERE and lost cell phone coverage.
So we couldn't call anyone to tell them how much longer it was going to take.
We also hadn't brought much food thinking it was going to be a short little trip.
Finally on the way back we found some little place to eat and it was the best food ever!
My poor sister in law though was pregnant at the time, I cannot imagine how hungry she must have been.

Our poor family was so worried about us.
By the time we made it back it was dark out.
This was some protected wetland area.
It was supposed to be beautiful so we got out to have a look.
We didn't realize that they had mosquitoes the size of golf balls there and promptly ran back to the car.
This is why we decided to head out there though.
They had trees that had been around when Christ walked the Earth.
The trees were MASSIVE.
I had again, never seen anything like them.
Look at those trees!
Aren't they beautiful?
We still talk about how amazing that trip was.
It was a wonderful time spent with all of K's relatives and the spot itself could not have been more perfect.
We also talk about heading back there someday.
How about you, where is one of you favorite vacations spots?
That sounds like such a wonderful trip! I love the pictures..and the leaving the car door open? That would SO be something I would do.
ReplyDeleteAlso. You came SO CLOSE to Canada and meeting your long lost twin but then turned around?! SADFACE.
I don't know how to pick just one favourite vacation spot...but most have to do with family :) One would have been meeting up with my parents in Spain (I hadn't seen them in almost six months and was ridiculously homesick and it was Christmas time!)...or a family holiday to South Africa for a beaautiful wedding, or when I roadtripped to the east coast with my parents... (I love me the east coast!)...or just camping when I was a kid throughout the province I live in :) See..I told you I couldn't pick one. I'm SO bad at decisions :P Basically, anywhere that's new and different...I love..haha! :)
PS - Just in case you feel bad..I don't actually live ANYWHERE near Idaho...so you didn't miss out on seeing me AFTERALL.
ReplyDeleteWilliamsburg Virginia is one of my fav spots! But Idaho sounds gorgeous! Loved the pictures!

Meli
So Pretty! Makes me look forward to spring & summer already!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite vacation was last April when we went to California. We went to Disneyland, Universal Studios (Which was really lame. The one in Orlando is MUCH better), stayed on the Queen Mary (our favorite part of the trip), toured the USS Midway (in San Diego.our 2nd favorite), and went to the San Diego Zoo. It was the greatest.
ReplyDeleteI wrote about it on my blog - http://mrsmarkdave.blogspot.com/2010/05/went-vacationin.html
If it makes a difference to you - we enjoyed our vacation in California more than the one in Floria although we thoroughly enjoyed both. And Disneyland and The Magic Kingdom are both exactly the same. Disney World just has more parks to choose from. We HATED Epcot. It was so boring.
