The Good, the Bad and the Funny

The Good: life is good, busy, but good. Tonight is finally a free night, would it be bad to be in bed before 9? Abby and I made muffins this morning, she loves to help. The latest Twilight movie comes out on DVD this weekend, I can't wait to watch it! I am making homemade pizza tonight, it is going to be soooooo good! I am setting some goals for myself, to help me to become more organized and such. I don't do New Year's Resolutions because well, I tend to lack long term follow through, life has enough stresses as it is without me adding to it. However, I do think that having some new goals for myself such as getting up a bit earlier in the morning will help immensely.

The Bad: all three girls have been kind of cranky lately, more prone to tears. Maybe they are ready for spring and to be outside again??? It seems that there is just a lot of sadness in the world right now, at times it can seem overwhelming, I am so grateful to know that God is in control of all.

The Funny: This picture, oh my word. We were watching Cinderella this afternoon, maybe she hadn't seen it in a while or something, but the part where Cinderella's stepsisters are ripping apart her dress produced this reaction in Ainsley.

Yep, I think her reaction accurately depicts their horrible behavior.
How was your week?

A little of this and a little of that

Somehow Abby officially turned into a two year old. Not age wise, that happened a few months back. I mean temperament wise, yep, the oh so terrible twos have struck. Thanks to her bickering with Ainsley I know hear things like "You a meanie!" "I don't yike you!" It's simultaneously heartbreaking {that she's growing up so fast}, frustrating {BECAUSE OH MY GOODNESS} and funny {I have a hard time keeping a straight face}.

This week is Congenital Heart Defect Awareness week. You can read more about it here, here and here.

I've been feeling a little stretched lately. I feels like there is so much going on and very little rest/down time. I have no idea how working moms do it.

Did I tell you that my lovely sister-in-law, Betsy, has a blog now!?!? You need to go check it out, seriously, head on over and show some love, please :)

I am kind of addicted to muffins right now. Yum. They are kind of like cupcakes, you know, without the delicious frosting. I like to have one in the morning with a tasty cup-a-joe.

K and I are currently addicted to watching The Mentalist. It is so good and dramatic, I LOVE it.

I am super excited, the latest Twilight movie is going to be out on DVD on Saturday! {Imagine Saturday being sung slightly operatic.} I didn't see it in the theater and cannot wait to see it, woo hoo!

What shows are you watching that you love?
K and I often to at home date nights and watch shows {Castle, Big Bang Theory, The Closer}. I want to start watching Downtown Abbey, I have heard it is fantastic!

Cell phone favs

I don't know if it is because the cold weather that came through or the dark skies or what, but I have a case of the zzzzz's today.
I had NO idea what to write about and thought that I would just scan through my cell pics to see if one of them might spark a idea.
I ended up finding so many of them that VOILA a blog post!
Awesome!

I. CANNOT. STAND. POKEMON.
Not one little bit, I can't even pretend.
Adison, however, LOVES it.
Sometimes, I decided to be nice and let her watch a Pokemon movie.
Deep thoughts shown her folks, deep thoughts.

We went on a hike with K's parents when they were here and came across this lovely, abandoned building.
I am such a sucker for architecture.
Isn't is just lovely and oh so classic.

Thunk.
That was me hitting the floor.
Knock me over with wet noodle, I just can't handle the preciousness that is this child.

Oh my precious.
How very delicious you are.
My bestie gave me one of these for my birthday, she knows me oh so well.
Cupcake? Yes please!

Speaking of birthdays.
This was taken on K's birthday, the day before mine.
A lot of our pictures look like this, K being goofy, me attempting to not look like insomnia has kicked my butt again.
It's a very "us" picture.

This is picture is so perfectly Ainsley that I can't help but smile each and every time I look at it.
I see happiness, I feel happiness.

Spirit week last year.
This was for "Crazy Hair Day".
She wanted to have all of our flower hair clips in her hair at once.
I simply adore this picture of Adison.

This is one of my most favorite Abby pictures of all time.
There is just something about it that makes it, I don't know what the word is...

Ainsley.
Just Ainsley.
My girlie girl, my fancy pants.
She is just oh so glamorous and lovely.

This is still one of my most favorite memories.
Swinging on a vine in the middle of the woods.
Who gets to do that anywhere other than the movies.
I pushed back my usual reservations and just went with it.
I felt the wind in my hair, the tightening of muscles hanging on, the exhilaration of swinging through the air.

Pink Pancakes

Over the weekend, while at the store, I spied a pink pancake mix and thought it would be fun for the girls to have for breakfast the next morning.
The girls were BEYOND excited.
A little Valentine's excitement, a little early celebrating.
I thought it would be a fun treat and was looking forward to making them.
But then, well...then I opened the package, mixed up the ingredients and this is what I saw.

It looked like lumpy Pepto Bismol with a side of chocolate chips tossed in.
I was becoming more and more unsure of them with each passing moment.

But the girls were looking forward to it so I proceeded on.
They so do not look appetizing but I remember being a kid, I probably would have eaten ANYTHING that was pink.

Finished product.
I can't even pretend to say that they look appetizing.
Don't worry, I won't be offended if you agree.
However, the girls loved them.
They ate the entire batch.
Every. single. one. of. them.

{Well, except for the one two that I ate. Apparently I can't stay away from pink food with chocolate chips even if they look unappetizing.}

InstaFriday

It's Friday!
Well, at this time, Friday is *almost* over, I am ready for this weekend!
Head on over to Life. Rearranged and share all of those cell phone pics from the week.
life rearranged

Tea party time!
Ainsley got this sweet little tea set for Christmas from my mom and the girls love having tea parties!
My Little Ponies even got an invite FA-N-CY!

I didn't even know this picture was on my phone until I was picking out pics for this post.
I think that Adison took it the other night.
I love how the distorted me looks like I have a duck bill, awesome.

Ainsley is growing up FAST!
Her teacher sends home these worksheet packets for the kids to work on and Ainsley loves them.
She likes doing her "work".
She can now identify a bunch of letter and it is flooring me.

This was my photo for February 1st #febphotoaday
This is my view.
Toys, Happy Nappers, baby doll strollers and books.
I wouldn't have it any other way.

These were our fortunes from out fortune cookies the other night.
They were some of the most interesting ones I have ever seen.
I think the first and last were my absolute favs.

My girl LOVES to read.
Our pediatrician's office has a drawer in each exam room with books in it.
She was all. over. that.

The Good, the Bad and the Funny

The Good: my blog re-design!!! Val over at all things chula completed this gorgeous look for me. Isn't it amazing!?! If you are wanting a new look for you blog I strongly suggest Val, she was a delight to work with and I couldn't be happier with the results. So. stinkin'. cute. Adison had a med check today and it went swimmingly, all is well on that front. We have had gorgeous weather around here, simply lovely. K roasted and ground some new coffee for me and it is muy bueno.

The Bad: I have had an off and on headache for almost a week now. Seriously ouch, the kind where taking some medicine, eating, sleeping...basically nothing can get it to go away until it decides to. My sinuses and I need to have a chat I think.
The Funny: On Tuesday, Ainsley came home in a mood. She tossed her jacket on the floor and was just mopey. When I asked her to pick up her jacket and put it away she responded by saying, "I can't Mommy, I'm stressed."
Yesterday afternoon I was in the kitchen and the little girls came running in, Ainsley jumped out in front of Abby and scared her. When I asked Ainsley why she would do that she responded by saying, "But Mommy, it's an action shot!"
Where in the world she came up with either of these is simply beyond me!
Abby's new phrases is "never ever". The funny thing about it is that she uses it correctly. She told me yesterday, "I've never ever seen it before"

How about you?
How did your week go???

You make me cupcake happy

I was talking with one of my besties, Jennifer, and thought this would be a fun idea to do.
Every week, hopefully on Wednesday, but possibly another day, it would be fun to give someone a "Cupcake Happiness" award or recognition or something, maybe it's for a blog post or for the person themselves.
You guys could "nominate" someone or share a blog post that spoke to you.
No rules, just being able to maybe brighten someones day.

Isn't that a fun idea!?!
So, for today, February 1st, 2012 {I totally almost typed 2011} I will give it to Jennifer.
Jennifer, you are one of my best friends, you stood right by my side through miscarriages and my fears while pregnant with Abby.
You love my kids like they were your own and have been such a wonderful friend.

**I'm working on a blog button for it, do you think that's a good idea?**

Please let me know your thoughts and comments, I appreciate it
xoxo, me
