Run Adison Run!

Adison had her Spring Fun Run for school on Monday.
She was really looking forward to it and I was really looking forward to cheering her on!
Oh the excitement I felt when she came into view.
Running running running
She finished fourth among the girls and was pleased as punch.
You could see how excited she was to get close to the finish line, to hear the whooping, the hollering, her name being yelled.
It's kinda fuzzy, but can you see that big grin on her face?
I saw it and felt it spread to my face as well.
That girl is pure sunshine.

After they had the race there was a carnival.
Abby wanted to be held the entire time and I would have loved to have been able to do it, but my arms were getting sore.
I eventually asked K is he thought she could fit between me and the backpack {diaper bag}.
She did and couldn't have been happier.
I could feel her little body relax into mine, I love having her close to me.

Ainsley was thrilled at all the bouncy houses they had.
This one had a mini-obstacle course and a big slide.
Her little best friend Kaylin went on it with her several times.
There is something about watching to little girls run hand-in-hand, with excited giggles that makes everything feel okay in the world.
She then went over to an actual bouncy house where she bounced around like a loon.
Then, without any indication, she ran headfirst into a big blow up column and went flying backwards.
It was a riot.

This is Adison and her bff, Emmy.
They were gladiators.
Teeny tiny little gladiators.
It was epic.

We had such a fun night.
Catching up with friends.
Children playing and having fun.
Can't wait for next year!

Cupcake Happiness {Vol. 6~ Life Chasers and Spring}

I've been reading a new blog lately.
I'm not sure if you are anything like me, but I am always looking for new, wonderful blogs to read.
It's always so nice to get to know new people.
So, back to the new blog, well, new to me blog.
Kaylee is the author and so incredibly sweet.
She is very encouraging and real, too.
Head on over, check out her blog and her sweet girls and say hello!

Also causing a lot of happiness around here is spring!
Yes, Spring.
Our daffodils bloomed seemingly overnight.
They were so beautiful for the 10.7 seconds that I got to look at them until Abby ripped them out of the ground.
Oh well.
While baby B was napping this morning, Abby and I went out front to do a bit of clean-up work out front.
It was a mess.
No, scratch that, not just a mess, a hot mess.
Eeh.
So, we raked some leaves and pulled out all of the dead things.
I also trimmed one the hedges out front, we have one that grows like a week and sprouts new branches{?} all over the place.

That's my slice of happiness today.
Good reads and good work getting done.
How has your day been my lovelies?

Cupcake Happy {Vol. 5~Daydreaming Fool}

I wanted to share with you who made me incredibly happy this week.
I have blogged about her before, but it bears repeating that she is one of my all-time favorite bloggers/people/friends evah.

She is seriously supportive and funny and just lovely.

I have to share something so incredibly sweet and thoughtful that she did.
While visiting Niagra Falls {on my bucket list of places to visit}, via Twitter, she offered to send postcards.
I asked her if she would mind sending one to us and she replied that she would.
Lo and behold, she sent each of the girls one as well as one to K and I.
She even wrote the sweetest messages on the back of each one AND picked out different postcards for all of us.

The girls were so excited to get some pretty mail and felt so incredibly special.
Huge smiles decorated every face and a warm fuzzy feeling resided in the heart.

Thank you my dear for your thoughtfulness, xoxo

Cupcake Happy Vol. 4

Today has been a bit of a rough day.
Ainsley is getting over being sick which is never, EVER fun.
She gets extra feisty and cantankerous which then flows into Abby and the two of them, whew, it's just a handful.
While I was trying to figure out what makes me "cupcake happy" for today's post I tried thinking about different blogs that I read.
What blog do I always look forward to reading?
What blog gives constant encouragement?

Then, it came to me.

Rachel's blog is amazing.
She is so very real and such encouragement.
She is such an amazing mother and her children are precious.
Head on over and check out her blog.

Cupcake Happy Vol. 3

Yesterday afternoon I took Adison to get new soccer cleats and get Ainsley's new ballet attire.
Cleats- check
Leotard- check
Tight- check
Ballet slippers- check

It was such a neat moment to watch Ainsley pick out her ballet things.
I took ballet when I was younger and always loved it.
Seeing all of the pink, black and white brought back so many fond memories.

After we got home Abby declared that she wanted some ballet slippers as well.
I had found them for such an amazing deal that K and I decided to get her some as well even though she isn't old enough yet to do ballet.
I told her that we would go in the morning after baby B got to our house.

 Fast forward to this morning.
Both big girls are at school.
Baby B has arrived.

I got B buckled into the car when I smell the unmistakeable smell of dirty diaper.
I decided that rather than get B back out of the car and head back into the house that I would just change her in the van.
Ah, the glory of having a van, such an easy place to change a diaper.
I get the diapers and wipes out, lay Abby down and get to changin' the stink.
Abby found my keys, I had forgotten to put them on the front seat like I always do.
Abby is obsessed with keys lately, I should have known that she would have zeroed in on them.
While changing the diaper I hear that she pushed the button to open the trunk door and promptly took them away and put them where they have been, on my seat.
I finished up changing the diaper, buckled Abby into her seat, shut the door and headed over to throw away the diaper.
I thought about leaving the door open because the weather was GORGEOUS but decided against it.
I went to get in the car, and you guessed it, the door was locked.
Okay, maybe I forgot to unlock it and instead only opened up the back door.
Then I tried opening up one of the back doors, locked.
Oh no oh no oh no.
Then I tried opening up the trunk thinking I could climb over the seats, locked.
Oh no oh no oh no.
What am I going to do?
Ok, calm down, call K.
The weather is nice, the kids are okay.
Oh no oh no oh no, my phone got locked in the car.
Oh, I know, I'll ask the neighbors if I can use their phone.

K, I need you to come home right now!
I accidentally locked the keys in the van and the KIDS ARE IN IT!
Honey, I just need you to come home RIGHT NOW!

At this point B is happily sitting in her carseat playing with a toy.
Abby, well, that's a totally different story.
Homegirl was so mad that she took off both of her shoes, one of her socks and was crying.
She was ticked.
Mama, get in the car.
Honey, I will in a few minutes, Daddy is going to come home and open the door for me.

Finally K got home.
Relief, sweet relief.
B never shed a tear and acted as though nothing had happened.
Abby, well, she quickly got over it.
Me, I felt/feel awful.
I called B's mom to tell her what had happened and praise the Lord she was fine with what had happened.

I think that I will be going to bed early tonight, today has had enough drama.

So, cupcake happiness.
For K, Abby, B, B's parents and my sweet neighbors, thank you!
I am so grateful that the weather was so mild for February, thank you Lord!

Lesson learned: always always always keep the keys away from Abby.
Also, always keep your phone in your pocket.

Ainsley's big day

Ainsley has been waiting forever to get her ears pierced.
For some reason we came up with the idea of telling her she could get her ears pierced next time it snowed.
Don't ask me why, I have zero clue where it came from.
Ainsley grasped onto that piece of information with a vengeance.
Every once in a while, Ainsley with her at times squeaky voice would say I'm getting my ears pierced next time it snows!
Excitement all but bubbled over.
She was not anxious for the snow to arrive, knowing that it eventually would.
K and I were starting to get a bit worried about a real snow fall as this winter has been odd, little snow, no snow storms yet.
We even started talking about alternate plans, we just knew that we needed to get it done before swimming lessons begin this summer.
Anyways, back on topic: snow
We waited and waited for the powdery white stuff, Ainsley though was cool as a cucumber.
I'm getting my ears pierced next time it snows!

Last Monday morning it had finally arrived, SNOW!
Jumping up and down and sqeals of delight could be heard in our home that morning.
Adison joined Ainsley in her whoops of delight.
They were both so stoked that Ainsley finally got to have her ears pierced.

We told her that Saturday would be the big day.
We counted down the days and sang the days of the week song multiple times a day to remind her of when Saturday would occur.

In 5 days you can get your ears pierced.
In 4 days you can get your ears pierced.
In 3 days you can get your ears pierced.
In two days you can get your ears pierced.
Lee! Guess what!?!? You get your ears pierced tomorrow!

This morning I was chatting with Ainsley and I asked her:
Hey Lee, guess what you get to do today?
Um, go to school?
No baby, something else.
Oh, how about go to church?
Yes, we have church tonight, but what exciting thing do you get to do today?
Ummmm...
You get your ears pierced!
Yay!!!!

We get ready, head out and get to the mall.
I could tell that nervous anticipation had started to kick in.
She vacillated between skipping up and down to absolute silence.

Ainsley picked out her earrings, pink sparkly flowers.
I wasn't surprised, you?
The lady working there informed us that she would have to pierce Ainsley's ears on at a time because she didn't have anyone else there to help.
I wasn't sure what to do, but K and I decided that the lure of sparkly earrings would probably do the trick.

While I was filling out the paperwork Lee was anxiously awaiting the experience.
She was so nervous but sat in the chair so patiently.
Her only request was that I hold her hand, asked with tears in her eyes.
{Aw, my girl melts me y'all!}
K and I told her that she would have to get them pierced one at a time and she was totally okay with it.
I was a little unsure but we went with it.

This was taken mere moments before the first ear was pierced.
Ainsley jumped so high and promptly burst into great big tears.
It broke my heart.
She kept saying how much it hurt but she was adamant about getting the second one pierced.
She sat through the second one, tears freely flowing.
The sweet lady who pierced them showed her what they looked like in a hand-held mirror and offered her a lollipop.
Lee tearfully accepted the lolli, but had little interest in how they looked.

We got her off of the chair and over to a big mirror.
After talking her into taking a few deep breaths and encouraging her to calm down, Baby it's probably feeling better already and if you took a few deep breaths you could feel that.
 In.
Out.
In.
Out
*sniffle sniffle* It is better Mama.

She looked at herself in the mirror with Adison and beamed at her reflection.
Do I look older Mama?
Yes, Ainsley, you do!
Yeah Ainsley, said Adison, look at how big you look now!
{Adison was so sweet and encouraging.}

Moments later she was telling us all how they didn't hurt at all anymore.
Look at this face, she was so excited!

Afterwards she was telling everyone that she got her ears pierced.
She even asked a girl on the way out of the mall if her ears were pierced too.
At church she was telling everyone she knew and even some that she didn't.

You guys, she is seriously so very excited.
I'm loving how proud of herself she is.

I hope you guys are having a lovely weekend!

Cupcake Happiness Vol. 2

You guys gals, I am so freakin' excited!
This summer, I am going to be marking something off of my bucket list.
Want to know what it is???
I am going to run a 5K this spring!

Yep, that's right.
I am going to run a 5K!

I am really excited!
On top of that I am going to be running it with some of my friends, exercise + friends = FUN

I can't wait.
I've always wanted to do a 5K but have never worked up the guts to do it.
I always made excuses not to do one.
I don't want to do it by myself.
I'm not that good of a runner, there's no way I could compete it.
Excuse
Excuse
Excuse
Enter any plausible or implausible excuse here, believe me, I've come up with quite a few.

This 5K, though is totally low key.
No timing.
You can walk, run or even crawl it.

Plus, it's going to be a super fun one.
It's called The Color Run.
Yep, they throw colored powder on you at different increments of the race.
I think it is going to be so much fun.
Look at the pictures, doesn't that look like a blast!?!

I think that once the weather gets a bit nicer that I am going to start jogging again.
I think it would neat to be able to actually run the entire thing.
Yes, I think I shall make that an official goal: RUN THE ENTIRE 5K

You make me cupcake happy

I was talking with one of my besties, Jennifer, and thought this would be a fun idea to do.
Every week, hopefully on Wednesday, but possibly another day, it would be fun to give someone a "Cupcake Happiness" award or recognition or something, maybe it's for a blog post or for the person themselves.
You guys could "nominate" someone or share a blog post that spoke to you.
No rules, just being able to maybe brighten someones day.

Isn't that a fun idea!?!
So, for today, February 1st, 2012 {I totally almost typed 2011} I will give it to Jennifer.
Jennifer, you are one of my best friends, you stood right by my side through miscarriages and my fears while pregnant with Abby.
You love my kids like they were your own and have been such a wonderful friend.

**I'm working on a blog button for it, do you think that's a good idea?**

Please let me know your thoughts and comments, I appreciate it
xoxo, me
